ABOUT THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE

As part of membership benefits, the Texas Association of Venues & Facilities hosts a conference every year.
Attendees can expect to hear speakers discussing topics relevant to members job functions,
meet partners and vendors that will showcase products relevant to TxAVF members,
network with fellow TxAVF members, and tour facilities within the host city.

The Annual Conference is a great way to expand knowledge within the industry by learning
some best practices from fellow members or speakers!

2019 Featured Speakers

CLAUDE LOCKE

Claude has been teaching thousands of people to be prepared for the "unknown" since 2000.  A former Marine with two deployments under his belt as a part of a reconnaissance company, Claude now serves as an active police officer including as the entry team leader on his force's SWAT. When he's not wearing the badge, he's teaching his "students" how to master basic tactical operations for many different situations and environments to give you an opportunity to not only fight, but survive those situations you hope never arise. Claude will work with TxAVF Conference attendees on how to respond to active shooter situation in a large open space venue at which there may be a large crowd. He will also teach basic triage assessment and the recovery position.

KRISTI AVALOS

Kristi founded Accessology LLC in 1990 as a direct result of her involvement in a national disability related issue. Kristi has more than 40 years experience leading the charge for accessibility compliance and disability-related issues. Kristi began her efforts in the transportation arena helping airlines and airports comply with the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA). After 12 years in the airline industry, she expanded to include ground transportation issues and facilities because of her close association with the Department of Transportation.  Kristi will inform TxAVF attendees on Title II, venue responsibilities, planning events, and technical requirements.
